IDEAS | Curate Your Easter Table: A Simple DIY Egg Holder

A step-by-step guide to adding a personal touch to your spring table.

A Thoughtful Table Touch this Easter

This Easter, bring a touch of handmade charm to your table with a beautifully simple DIY egg holder. It’s the perfect project for a slow afternoon, whether you’re crafting solo or with little ones. Here’s how to make your own with just a few tools and some air-dry clay.

You Will Need:

Ruler / Rolling Pin / Table Knife / Bowl of water / Old Tea Towel / Air-dry clay (in a colour of your choice) / Egg box or tray (to use as a mould)

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1:

Cut out the shape and size of your desired egg holder from the egg box or tray. This will act as your mould.

Step 2:

Lay your tea towel on a flat surface. Using a rolling pin, roll out the air-dry clay until it's approximately 0.5cm thick.

Step 3:

Gently place the sheet of clay over the top of your egg holder mould and press down carefully to shape it.

Step 4:

Trim away any excess clay around the sides using your table knife. Don’t worry if the edges are a little rough—this will be smoothed in the next step.

Step 5:

Dip your fingers in the bowl of water and smooth out the surface and edges of the clay for a more refined finish.

Step 6:

Place the tea towel gently over the top and press lightly. This helps soak up extra moisture and adds a subtle texture to the surface.

Step 7:

Leave your egg holder to dry in a cool, dry space for around 3 days. Once dry—voilà! You’ve made your very own egg holder.

Time to Decorate

Air-dry clay comes in a variety of colours, or you can paint and decorate once it’s fully set. Add soft washes of watercolour, metallic accents, or leave it minimalist and matte. Let your creativity flow—this is a piece made by you, for your table.

Curated, crafted, and completely yours.

Happy Easter!
