DESIGN | Highlights from London Design Festival | What Inspired us

This year’s London Design Festival offered a window into the future of design while honouring the rich traditions of the past. We’re excited to share with you some of the standout projects.

The British capital’s iconic design marathon has just wrapped up, and we at Curateology had the pleasure of immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of this year’s London Design Festival. From cutting-edge installations to visionary showrooms, the festival offered a window into the future of design while honouring the rich traditions of the past.

We’re excited to share with you some of the standout projects and trends that captured our imagination during the festival. Enjoy !

Spectrum By 2LG Studio

2LG Studio, founded by design duo Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead, is celebrating a decade of their distinctive design philosophy through an emotional exploration of colour. Their innovative use of colour has been a central element of their work, while their adaptable and personal approach responds to the human needs of each project, seamlessly blending form, function, and material delight. SPECTRUM, their latest project, takes visitors on a sensory journey that delves into the human and personal connections to colour, evoking memories and sparking meaningful conversations.

TooGood

Toogood, a London-based design studio founded by Faye Toogood in 2008, spans the worlds of interior design, homewares, fine art, and fashion, embracing a multidisciplinary approach that defies categorisation. Faye and her team shared insights into their daily creative process, seamlessly working across furniture, clothing, art, and interiors. This year, they presented brand-new furniture designs, assembled in the studio for the first time. Known for her sculptural approach, Toogood continues to redefine the art of furniture design, blending creativity and craftsmanship in bold, unexpected ways.

Yinka Ilori

Yinka Ilori, a London-based multidisciplinary artist with British-Nigerian roots, is renowned for weaving storytelling into his work by blending the influences of both cultures. Since launching his practice in 2011, Ilori has been transforming vintage furniture through upcycling, drawing inspiration from traditional Nigerian parables and the vibrant West African fabrics that shaped his childhood. To mark the 22nd London Design Festival, Yinka Ilori hosted a pop-up at The Hoxton, Shoreditch, in the heart of London—celebrating the city’s status as a global design capital.

SCP

SCP, a leading manufacturer and retailer of modern design products, was founded in 1985 by Sheridan Coakley, an entrepreneur celebrated for championing modern design in Britain. Over three decades later, SCP continues to uphold its original vision—creating and offering design pieces that are beautiful, functional, and built to last. This year, event, The Heart of the Matter, reflects a shift in the design community, highlighting a growing emphasis on handmade, small-batch production methods and a commitment to using strictly natural materials, underscoring a thoughtful and sustainable approach to modern design.

As we reflect on this year’s London Design Festival, it’s clear that the future of design is deeply rooted in heritage, sustainability, and craftsmanship. From 2LG Studio’s emotional exploration of colour to Toogood’s sculptural furniture designs, the festival showcased a diverse range of innovative approaches. Yinka Ilori captivated audiences with his fusion of British-Nigerian culture, while SCP reminded us of the importance of handmade, small-batch production and natural materials. These projects highlight the evolving priorities of designers and makers, focusing on storytelling, connection, and mindful creation. We’re excited to carry these inspirations forward into our own work at Curateology.
