This May Bank Holiday, we’re embracing the art of the imperfectly curated table. One trend making waves? The organic statement centrepiece — a tactile, nature-inspired arrangement that anchors your setting and sparks conversation.
Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to creating your own sculptural showpiece, using just a few found and foraged materials.
You Will Need:
Limpet shells – naturally sculptural, beautifully iridescent
Driftwood twigs – sun-bleached and full of character
Fresh moss – soft texture, lush colour
Floral foam (oasis) – the base that holds it all together
How to Make It:
Step 1: Using a strong adhesive, glue each driftwood twig to the underside of a limpet shell. Allow to dry for about 1 hour.
Step 2 : Soften the corners of your floral foam block by rounding off the edges. This gives a more natural look.
Step 3 : Place the foam on a serving tray or shallow base. Begin layering the moss over the surface, covering all exposed areas of foam completely.
Step 4 : Push the limpet shell mushrooms into the moss-covered base, varying the heights for a more organic feel.
Add sprigs of wildflowers or herbs for a touch of colour and a gentle scent.
Curated, crafted, and completely yours.
