Meet Adam

A designer by trade, I’ve been lucky enough to work for some of the biggest homeware brands in the world. I’ve built my reputation working across retail, hospitality and interiors - covering almost every area of the home, from managing teams of designers, or doing the sketches myself. After I moved back from the US a few years ago, I started my own studio and now work with retail brands to design products, outline creative strategies and develop entire assortments.

What Inspires Adam ?

Part of the job of a designer is to constantly be on the look out for inspiration, and part of the enjoyment is the variety of places you can find it. As an example I designed an armchair for Soho House a few years ago that was designed around a canoeing trip in Canada, using the handle design of the oar to incorporate into the arm of the chair.

Principles of colour & design and the impact it has on our day to day lives

Colour is one of the most important elements of design, especially when it comes to the home. A change in colour can completely change the feel and emotions of a space, so how and where you use colour is incredibly important.

What makes a good table scape ?

I love the layering that occurs when cooking, with all the different ingredients, spices and dishes. Seeing this same idea of layering across the dining table feels like a natural extension of the cooking process, and is all part of the presentation of the food and the experience of eating

Tips for elevating your table

In a similar way to styling a room with a base of neutrals and tonal colours and having some small bolder items, I like to use more simple tones for the bigger serving plates and bowls. Then introducing more colour and pattern with the smaller side dishes helps create interest without the table looking too busy.
